My daughter was so happy to see this on her desk when she got home from school. She loves to read and these step in to reading books have helped her tremendously.

I sent this book to my granddaughter on her birthday along with a black witches hat, purple velvet cape, red/white plume and a lantern. This made her feel as if she were part of the story and she loved it reading it in costume to the family. Enjoy!

My daughter is 7 and this book was exactly her level of reading right now, I bought it for her for around Halloween and she enjoyed it greatly!

Great story buaght for my granddaughter. Because my son reads every night to her. Thank you.

I enjoy reading this story to my kids and they enjoy listening. still a little young for reading but they ca point out certain words they see over and over

This is a cute Halloween story about a little sister in a family of witches.

Great level 3 book.

Bought this for my granddaughter who read the book aloud to me. It was a cute story - of course, with a lesson to teach.

Marzie's Reviews *****marziesreads.blogspot.com/2019/The latest installment in the Babu and Bina series of picture books finds young elephant Bina imagining her life if she were Princess Bina. While the greatness of her royal self is gratifying to her, she gradually learns that she has far more fun if she's just Bina, a girl who helps her grandparents and plays with her friends. This is a delightful picture book that asks children to contemplate the benefits of just being yourself. This is an accessible installment in the Babu and Bina children series, a colorfully-illustrated picture book series for young readers.I received a Digital Review Copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. Reader's favorite Book Review readersfavorite.com/book-review/princess-for-a-dayPrincess for a Day by P. Tomar is an enchanting story that is about being yourself, self-acceptance, and being kind. The illustrations by Giulia lacopini are as magical as the story and they breathe life into the characters and scenes, making them tangible, real, and relatable to young readers. Bina Trunk's makeover to that of a princess is something all girls would like to do once in a while and I like the way in which the author weaves the concept into the plot; effortlessly without making it forced. All the characters in the story are adorable and readers will love them. It is a good storybook for bedtime tales and can be used in classrooms and school libraries for both storytelling and read aloud sessions.

Books like this are so informational for children and hold such a wealth of knowledge. I really enjoy reading books, like this one and many others to my children, for if you start them young then they will grow to have a love for reading and adventure!

This is the second book my kid is reading from this Author.. Like the previous one this book is also awesome and my son enjoyed it . This book has such a beautiful message that it is always good to help others and share the responsibilities .The story also tells that it is no fun to be pretentious and to lead another person’s life but it is always fun to be the way you are . I strongly recommend this book .

My daughter loves reading books written by P. Tomar. The author comes out as creative and imaginative in her writing. This book has an appealing story and teaches the kids to be humble, helpful and nice to others.

Beautiful story! Well written! Wonderful illustrations! This is a delightful story with a sweet lesson. It will most certainly be loved and adored by many little ones.

Cute story with a great message! Being grateful, helpful, and kind are important character traits to reinforce in a children's book. This one does just that with lovely pictures in a pleasing color palette. Very enjoyable!

This book is fun and has a great message! I particularly loved the illustrations and the vibrant colors that made you feel part of the environment.

Being princess in the house makes you special, but you should not stop being courteous or nice. If you become pretentious you will then loose all the fun and affection from friends and family. Great lesson for all prince and princesses at home.

This is a great book for kids to learn sbout the consequences of their actions and how to learn and grow from them. My daughter adores the images and likes trying to tell me the story 😊

If I could give this 10 or more stars I would do it. This book was recommended to me as my husband is dealing with memory loss and is 90 years old. Even though the book deals with Alzheimer's I still connected with Olivia's emotional journey. I have been care giving for my husband for about 6 years. I started to meditate regularly three years ago and that is what I mostly connected with in the book. She and her husband both meditator's come from a beautiful place in dealing with life and death which is the same outlook my husband and I have. I found myself understanding more when I get angry and feel "is this what my life will be about" I had never read a book with someone dying with Alzheimer's so if my husband does move into that diagnosis I feel I will be more educated on the journey.

As a professional in mental health as well as a nurse working with people who are in the process of dying, I found the Buddhist perspective on the journey to care for a beloved family member with Alzheimer's intriguing. But as a caregiver of a man with Lewy Body dementia, I found it a life-saver!I'm well-versed in Buddhist tradition and have read much about the Buddhist approach to dying, but Olivia Hoblitzelle tells us of one couple's heartfelt journey to companion each other to the end of (his) life, using Buddhist practices as their anchor or port in a storm of change and confusion. I loved, loved, loved this book and have read it to my dear friend who is in crossing into late stages of this disease, as well as shared it with friends who are caring for various family members: parents, spouses, and in one case, a son with early onset dementia. Her compassion is inspiring, and yet equally so is her impatience and compassion fatigue. Her struggles to make Hob's passage into and beyond an unknown terrain a traverse of love (no matter what) are as authentic and heartbreaking as her attempts to keep the threads of her own (separate) life gathered together so she would have something of her own once his journey had ended. These are the very real issues managed by everyday caregivers. She has a way of inviting the reader into his/her own story by compellingly recounting hers.A beautiful book, absolutely beautiful.

One of the most profoundly moving books written about the 'journey' Olivia and Hob, her husband, diagnosed with Alzheimers, would ever be asked to make. A must read. The spiritual integrity and practices that underline the couple's approach to dealing with the devastating effect of the syndrome is a courageous example for us all. A caveat: the title here was forced upon the author by the publisher on its second edition - it trivializes the book and does it no favours, nor is it particularly relevant. The statement Ten Thousand etc etc is a Buddhist thing (perfectly fine for a treatise on Buddhism). The original title is powerful and contains within itself the indicator of the profound love between this couple. The original title The Majesty of Your Loving should have been preserved. Majesty - the light of majesty is in everyone, or we would not recognize it; it is the divine light which gives our essence its Being. However, not all of us live to the majesty of that light, nor to the light of Majesty. We do, however, recognize majesty: the dignity, integrity, humour and repose which extend from a person out of whose presence flows an innate authority. The love between Olivia and Hob is majestic, and we are humbled by its presence as we read.

Olivia Ames Hoblitzelle has given us a remarkable and beautifully written account of her and her husband's mindful journey through Alzheimer's Disease. I believe that her story is not only for those affected by this awful disease, however. I found much of interest and also comfort here regarding the universal theme of death and dying.Hoblitzelle and her husband were students and teachers of Buddhism and Mindfulness Meditation and she brings that radiantly clear and fearless view of death to bear here, but no matter your spiritual tradition, this is one of the most compassionate, unflagging, and hopeful accounts of a journey to the other side that I have read, and having lost both of my parents to cancer, I have read many, representing many traditions. In spite of the subject matter, Ten Thousand Joys & Ten Thousand Sorrows is never maudlin or morose, but offers an honest, unflinching guide to a "good dying".If you or anyone you know is facing death, or has already crossed that threshold - okay, so that's everyone - this beautiful book will help.

This is truly a story of two people, even though only one person wrote it. She was able to capture so much of her husband even as she gradually lost him to Alzheimer's. His "diminishment" is what he called it - the tiny piece by piece loss of a brilliant human mind. She honors him in her writing, and she honors herself as she writes honestly of the strain and heartbreak of being the witness to everything both of them lose, slowly, gradually, permanently. This book is very much a keeper - one I'll reopen frequently.

this book is about one couple's journey with Alzheimer's disease. It was interesting to read & relate to as far as the disease goes but it has a lot about Buddhism in it & the author's involvement as teachers & meditators. I ordered another book since reading this & this seems to be more helpful to me as I struggle with various issues caring for my young spouse with the disease.

A moving story of practice and loss.I appreciate being able to purchase it online because my nearby town doesn't have a bookstore.

Outstanding reading especially for family members and caregivers of persons experiencing Alzheimer's disease . Many practical thoughts, many spiritual insights.Rev. Barbara A. Beadles

I had never heard of the pilot Hans Ulrich Rudel until I saw his name mentioned several times while leafing through a few older books about the Luftwaffe. When I noticed his incredible list of wartime exploits, I have to admit I was intrigued enough to learn more about him. His career was meteoric to say the least, yet began in a very unorthodox manner when contrasted with the more widely known Luftwaffe aces of his day. Deemed a slow learner and a pilot of 'mediocre' abilities by his superiors, Rudel was not considered a suitable fighter pilot candidate and was subsequently assigned to observation and reconnaissance missions at the very beginning of the war. His early career in the Luftwaffe seemed to be characterized by bitterness and strife when dealing with his superior officers. The charismatic Rudel was nevertheless determined to make a difference in the war and prove his superiors mistaken in their gross underestimation of his abilities. In the rigidly disciplined Luftwaffe, having an aggressive personality or being an outspoken individual could be detrimental--if not terminal--to a young pilots fledgling career. Fortunately for Rudel, he managed to get himself transferred to dive bombing training in 1940, where he quickly learned to perfect the new military discipline with devastating efficiency. His outspoken nature and stubborn individualism was soon enough overlooked as he began to lead his fellow Stuka pilots and perform exceptionally well on their dangerous missions. Having discovered his true calling at last, Rudel began immediately to make his presence felt in the German war effort. Rudels remarkable accomplishments came in rapid succession, enabling him to develop a legendary name for himself while imprinting fear into the hearts and minds of his Soviet opponents (much like Baron Manfred Von Richtoffen did in the First World War on the Western Front). Although the point is debatable, it is easy to understand how Hans Ulrich Rudel might be considered the most valuable soldier in the Second World War. In all, he flew over 2,500 combat missions, downed 11 enemy aircraft, destroyed: 519 tanks, 4 armored trains, several bridges, over 1000 trucks and transport vehicles, 70 landing craft, two battle cruisers, a destroyer, and the Soviet Battleship Marat. Is it any wonder that Josef Stalin placed the highest bounty on Rudel's head? On several occasions he landed behind enemy lines to rescue downed airmen from his unit, and on one momentous occasion things went disastrously wrong--but I wont spoil the harrowing story for you, the reader. His accomplishments were so impressive that Hitler himself insisted on creating a new award to distinguish Rudel from all other German military and civilian aces and heroes of the day. Thus, Rudel was the only soldier in Germany to earn 'The Knights Cross of the Iron Cross with GOLDEN Oak Leaves, Swords, and Diamonds. The book started out a tad slow for my liking, but became a damned good read once Rudel found his true calling in 1940. What fascinated me the most about this book is the sporadic insight we are given into the nature and inner workings of the German military machine and the German High Command itself. I also enjoyed reading about his interactions with the notable personalities of Hermann Goering and Adolf Hitler in particular. One can gather that Hitler held Rudel in very high esteem, since he allowed very few people to publicly disagree with him or express their true thoughts in his presence-- as Rudel often did. Knowing full well that Germany had lost the war, Rudel had the audacity near the end of the conflict to ask Hitler why Germany couldn't surrender to the Western Allies in order to continue their fight against the Soviet Union unhindered. The fact that Hitler took the time to patiently explain to Rudel why this wasn't an option for Germany further demonstrates the astonishing respect Hitler must have had for him. Any other military officer in Germany mentioning inconvenient truths in front of Hitler at this point in time--hero or no--would have been quickly hauled away and shot for defeatism. To this day, Hans Ulrich Rudel remains the most decorated combat pilot of any nation in the history of warfare. Rudel was, beyond a doubt, one of the toughest, bravest, and most charismatic human beings produced by our species. He was an incredibly skilled pilot supremely successful at what he did, and his incomparable exploits on the Eastern Front make these memoirs a compelling read. It is for these reasons that I recommend this book to all readers regardless of political beliefs, religious affiliation, or any moral reservations due to Rudels unrepentant allegiance to Nazi Germany and the person of Adolf Hitler.

Great book. Truly an amazing story. I expected it to be pro Nazi based on what I'd heard about Rudel, but I found it to be a story of a aviator fighting for his country. His disdain for "Ivan" is obvious but I'm sure it is common for a soldier to feel the same about his enemy. It's interesting to hear his internal struggles in his mind as in the time where he had one cannon jammed and one round in the other cannon while he was engaging "Ivan" tanks defended by veteran antiaircraft gunners.Or the time when he was in a dog fight with a "hero of Russia"Or the time when he landed 30 miles behind enemy lines to rescue downed aviators from his squadron (as he did on numerous occasions) and was unable to take off again.I find it shameful that a soldier on the allies side stole his logbook that had every sortie described in detail for a souvenir. Imagine the book that could have been written from that! Hopefully some day the logbook will be recovered and published.

A very straight-forward and simply told story. Rudel was Germany's premier Stuka pilot of the war. He flew over 2500 missions, destroyed over 500 Russian tanks, and did this all while flying an outdated, practically obsolete aircraft. Rudel is unapologetic about his support for the German cause, unlike many, he never hid his faith and support of Hitler, during the war or after. Rudel was one of Hitler's favorite heroes, he was awarded his decorations by the Fuhrer himself on numerous occasions. Ordered not to continue flying, he disobeyed the orders and continued to fly combat missions, even after losing a leg!If you ever wondered how the German army managed to hold out so long on the Eastern Front against the overwhelming superiority of the Russian war machine, you should read this book.

Rudel was seen as an odd character because he didn't drink or smoke. His only vice was whipped cream. He was a self-described slow learner, but he gradually caught on and proceeded to wreak havoc on the Soviets. Perhaps even more exciting than his tales of T-34 destruction are his Stuka rescue attempts behind enemy lines. The German high command had to invent new medals to give him!My favorite parts of his book were taxing the Stuka down the highway in heavy fog and demonstrating his anti-tank cannons to a group of school children who were "keen as mustard" to see his Stuka in action. It's a shame that some of Rudel's post-war activities have tarnished an otherwise brilliant career as a pilot. However, none of that is covered here in Stuka Pilot.

The author's greatest asset is also his greatest liability, as a writer. He's entirely passionate about his story. That means he communicates it with energy and color, it also means he is fairly narrow in his interpretation of events. It was interesting to see his feelings evolve over the course of the story, yet his underlying love for his country and his role as a pilot never wavers.

Loved this book! A lot of action and not boring. I wish his meetings with Goring, Hitler and Von Bulow were more detailed though. I believe this man was addicted to flying. He flew for the love of his country, yes! However, and this is what made him special, his love for flying and racking up “kills” is what kept him in the air I believe? Maybe a few lines about his family are mentioned, so not much there. If the action wasn’t so great I would’ve give it 4 stars because of the lack of pre-war, family and friends info. Could’ve had a few more pics and maps but overall it’s great and deserves 5 stars! Highly recommend! I’m reading the Erich Hartmann book now to continue the Luftwaffe theme.
