Not what I expected. I expected lists of foods and carbohydrate counts. Just a bunch of info already know. Title is deceiving. Don’t bother purchasing.

I augment that expertise with scores of magazines and hours of web surfing — not enough of this surfing to count as exercise that reduces my triglicerides, but sufficient to keep my brain active.Then, I came across this booklet. “The Pocket Carbohydrate Counter Guide...†was a title that I nearly passed on. I read the other review, whicj I found helpful, and decided to give it a try.As it turns out, this is far more than a mere guide to counting carbs. This is almost as good as having a team of physicians and nutritionists at a town hall, explaining in layman’s language. Its fantastic.I thought I understood much before I read this. The science, perhaps, but not the art. Now, I finally grasp the important interaction of glucose, fructose, triglicerides and brain activity.BOTTOM LINEEven though I am certified as a First Aid CPR Instructor, I gained a good deal of actionable information by reading this handbook.Five stars out of five

The Pocket Carbohydrate Counter Guide by Shelby Kinnaird is an easy to use resource to help in the management of diabetes.First, the guide does explain how carbohydrates affect us in easy to understand language.Some of the information I found very useful were alternatives to counting carbohydrates, ideas and tips for exercise, snacks, grocery shopping, and dining out. I started tracking my meals because of the suggestion in the book and I am more aware of what I am eating now. I also like the glossary and resources in the back of the book. It is the kind of book I will refer to often.I find the Pocket Carbohydrate Counter Guide to be a positive, accessible source of information and practical tips for those managing diabetes.
What a disappointment! I guess I should have read the description as I thought this was a list of foods with corresponding carbs - not a book on how to count carbs, how many we should have, etc.
This has been a great read for me since I am a Type 2 diabetic. There are many great suggestions that will help me to control my diabetes.
