However, inside the book the theme of what we think we know or hope to know about "The Early Solar System" takes center stage. In a book this large, there are sections — especially 'Part VII: The Parent-body Epoch: A. Alteration and Metamorphism — where there is wonderful granularity of detail and description of meteorites as actual rocks. But there is a bend to the book. The articles are not stand alone items. A person may need to read 3 or 4 articles and then come back to read the chapter again. It seems to me that this is a book written almost entirely for an audience of co-workers and graduate students. I would like to have seen a little more for the educated colleague in astronomy, geology, geochemistry or for the enterprising undergraduate student as well.
