This book's preface includes a 49 page introduction that is a masterful, scholarly exposition of the development of the Talmud, followed by 8 pages of numbered (115) notes. Some of the notes are just citations, but others are paragraphs of explanation, pointing you to pages within the book. At the end of the book is a very valuable 4 page timeline from 333 BCE to 642 CE highlighting events dealt with in the introduction, a glossary, 6 appendixes , 3 bibliographies, maps, a sacred writing index and a general index. These items alone are worth the price of the book. The body of the book consists of samples from each tractate in each of the six orders of the Talmud. The actual Talmud consists of 63 tractates, usually in 63 volumes, so it is impossible to really condense that into one 700 plus page 5 X 8 paperback, but for a taste of what the Talmud is like, plus a superb series of pages explaining how it came to be and how it is arranged, this book more than fills the bill.

Rabbi Solomon's book is an introduction to the Talmud, the second most important written text in Judaism. The Talmud is second in importance to the Bible, and it seeks to apply the words of the Bible(Jewish Bible only contains what is generally referred to as Old Testament)to the lives of the Jewish People. He gives a lengthy Introduction in the book, in which he discusses how to read the Talmud, its structure, the history of its compilation, the styles of writing in it, the people who contributed to it, its theology, its relationship to Christianity, and how it was transmitted. To me, this was the most important part of the book, and I agree with the previous reviewer, that this portion of the book is worth the price of the book, alone. What follows are examples of text from each of the sections of the Babylonian Talmud, which is divided into Orders and Tractates. There are brief explanations given to aid you in understanding the examples of the text given. Following the examples of text, there is supplementary material, including a glossary, a discussion of the weights and measures mentioned in the Talmud, a lengthy bibliography. and maps. The entire book contains well over 800 pages and is well worth the purchase price. One warning; if you expect to learn the Talmud from this book, you will be disappointed. The title of the book is "The Talmud A Selection", and after you read a few of the examples of the text from the Talmud, you will quickly come to the conclusion, that, it is impossible to really learn the Talmud, without a long, in depth study of it, with the aid of an instructor. This book is a great starting line if you wish to run the distance.

In preparing for the exam there are many areas of expertise we need to encompass, David's book is well written.It has a clear table of contents, as well as tables and formulas, the benefit of a sample exam that covers so many areas of essential materials is proving extremely helpful. I would encourage anyone preparing for the test or wanting to increase their knowledge to get this book and go through it . It has as an index and supplemental in depth answers to all of the questions. It also has references for each question and where they can be found in our reference books. It will be a beneficial book and learning tool. I also found the Acronyms/Abbreviations helpful. The included Directory is also great for Associations & Organizations. All in all I think this is a great book. I would like to thank David for taking the time to write this study guide, and all of those that contributed. I found the book to be very informative. I like that the subjects are listed in the contents page, so if you need help with weld symbols for example, you can go straight to that chapter. I think the book is a great tool for studying the fundamental portion of the exam.

Great knowledge.

This should be titled 1001 questions and answers to study if you want to fail the CWI! I have been a CWI for many years and teach CWI prep courses. 70 percent of the questions in this book have no relevance to the cwi, 20 percent of the questions are just plain wrong and use nonstandard terms, the 10 percent that are relative are poorly written and very subjective. Do not buy this book if you are studying for the CWI exam!

This book is an excellent tool for those that want to pass the CWI exam fundamentals section or anyone that wants to know more about metals and metal working, especially welding and welding inspection information. I am an SCWI and a welding instructor and this book has helped me to refresh as well as increase my knowledge. I highly recommend this text.

 This is a coloring book with designs of animals and plants (including many flowers.) Unlike Posh books from earlier years, this book focuses on a single artist, Zoe Ingram, instead of a single subject matter with multiple artists. The designs in the book are beautiful and will be a joy to color. There are all sorts of flowers and a few of the animals include: deer, rabbits, peacocks, an owl, and a swan. There are also some lovely mandalas included. The designs in this book are detailed and beautiful. While they will take some time to color, I don't think that they will require anything special by way of coloring medium.The pages are a heavyweight of bright white paper that is micro perforated. The designs are printed on one side of the page only and while most stop prior to the perforations, a few extend beyond it. The designs do not merge into the binding area; however, a number of design elements are cut off on the edges of the designs which leaves open-ended parts to the design.The paper in this book is also acid-free which means that it will not turn colors with age and all the work you put into coloring the designs should be safe. The binding is glued rather than sewn. If you are willing to “break” the spine a bit, it can be pushed into lying flat to give you access to make coloring in this book if you prefer that over taking pages out.My alcohol-based markers bleed through this paper. My water-based markers do not. My gel pens work fine and do not leave a shadow on the backside of the page. Coloring pencils work well and as expected according to their type (soft or hard core.) If you are using alcohol based markers or just for general safety, you can put an extra page of card stock or chipboard under the page you are working on to keep ink from leaking through.These are the coloring medium that I use for testing. If there is something else you feel I should be testing, please let me know and I will see if I can add it to my growing pile:Markers: 1) alcohol-based – Copic Sketch, Prismacolor double ended markers (brush and fine point), Sharpies (fine and ultra-fine) and 2) water-based – Tombows dual end markers (brush and fine point), Stabilo 88, Staedler triplus fineliners, and Pentel markersGel Pens: Sakura, Fiskars, Uni-ball Signo 0.38/0.28 and TekwriterColoring Pencils: Prismacolor Premier Soft Core, Derwent Colorsoft, Prismacolor Verithins, and Faber-Castel Polychromos

Awesomeness is the Best word I know to describe the coloring book .... It's has 31 Beautifully created pages .... Flowers in a vase, whimsical little rain clouds with raindrops falling, hot air balloons, a whimsical "Imagine" drawing, birds, dragonflies, kites, just to name a few .... The paper is a heavy type paper, I'm not anticipating any bleed thru problems .... The drawings themselves are clear & well defined & can be torn out (I like to tear mine out to color .... It's just easier for me) .... The book itself is well made; No fear of the pages coming unbound unless you take them out .... There are simple designs right down to intricate ones; some that would take just alittle while to ones more time consuming .... I can't wait to finish the page I'm on & started on these .... I Highly Recommended It for Any Level of Coloring 😍

Some nice pictures, but I don't like the heavy black shading.

I got this for my wife and she loves it. It keeps her calm and her anxiety down. I will see about getting her more of them at a later date. Will buy again.

Not my style but pages are single sided and arrived in a nice plastic sleeve. Quality item just too kid like for myself

This publisher uses great paper quality. I love the feel of the paper. A nice variety of designs to choose from. Some have a lot of details and others are less elaborate. Designs are one-sided.

Cute pictures but too small to use markers.

Love this book. Paper is nice and there is only print per page.

Most depressing collection of poems ever. I bought it for my son in order to introduce him to poetry, and could use only three or four of the poems for fear of permanently putting him off poetry forever.

Required reading for my granddaughter !

Purchased by school district. Didn't hear any complaints from the teacher (and I would), so assume all's good.

Good compilation of previously published articles and plans. Some could have given more detailed instructions. The carving on the cover is a good example. The article only shows the finished carving and the pattern but no instructions.

Excellent step by step instructions on 3D relief carving. Illustrations are beautiful and detailed. A lot of interesting patterns that look to be easy for every level of carver ability.

This book has some attractive plans but not very much how-to info. I dont like that the plans are not to scale because its much easier to copy and piece togeter full size plans from several pages than it is to scale it up on my printer. I still like it, howwever.

I like this book as it has step by step instructions with lots of pictures. A must for new carvers. A good addition for any carvers collection.
