If you're a fan of Freakonomics and Super Freakonomics, you'll love this book. Here's why:Like many other people, after reading both of the Freakonomics books, I felt like I learned a ton, but I wasn't sure how it would apply directly to my life.And that's okay. They weren't writing a self help book, and I read their work because I was genuinely curious in understanding how the world works.But this book departs from their usual method of explaining how the world works and instead shows you how you can better live in the world.And that's why I believe this is their best book yet.Here's a little summary of what I learned:1. In one chapter, the three hardest words in the english language, they talk about one of the main problems that plagues people today - the inability to say "I don't know." And they show you how it's a deadly combination because "cocky plus wrong" is a recipe for disaster. They then show you how to avoid making this mistake. They even give a word for word script you can use.2. In another chapter, "WHat's your problem," they share the story of Kobayashi and how he became a professional hot dog - and food eater. They walked through his entire process and how he went on to eat 50 hot dogs when people thought eating 30 was impossible. And even though they're talking about hot dogs, you'll see how this can apply to everyone.As an example, back when I started creating videos for Social Triggers TV, a friend of mine told me they were filming about 6 videos a day. And I thought, "Well, I'm new at this ther's no way ill get there." And I would film 3 videos a day. Eventually, as I got good, I got to the magic number - 6 videos in a day and I felt like I was on top of the world. Until I spoke to another friend who told me they do 15 or 20 videos in a day. I was SHOCKED. But I went back to the drawing board, refined my process, and eventually got up to 17 videos in a day.I'm being vague here, mainly because I want you to read the book. But it's funny seeing how the same process I used to increase my video production was used by the hot dog champ as well.3. And my favorite part of the book is when they talk about what they call "the once and done" technique. If you're a non-profit, you'll LOVE reading about this because you'll see how you can potentially increase donations a drastic amount by using this simple marketing tactic.And that's it.Great book and I suggest you buy it and read it.

It is worth the time and the money. The book isn't as earth-shattering as Freakonomics, but it's pretty good. The 4 stars are very well deserved and maybe a little conservative... 5 stars might be a fair rating for the Kindle edition.If you buy the Kindle edition, in addition to the book it comes with a few articles and a Q&A session with the authors. These additions to the Kindle edition do add value. I liked their thoughts and the advice they gave the British Prime Minister on health care. The most interesting, however, was Dubner's interview:"... I think we should treat health and life and death more like a regular good....we need to - it's unfortunate, but we need to - make these horrible choices, where we decide, are going to send our kids to college or are we going to keep great-grandma alive for two more weeks, and the cost might be about the same for those two things. Right now we shy away from those decisions, and we pretend like life has infinite value and we can't make these choices."

Think Like a Freak offers a new perspective for thinking. Thinking is generally done on only one way, but Think Like a Freak offers its readers a new way to think about everyday situation. The truth is that we can’t really predict the future, there IS a medical reason for that condition- not just stress, causality is not caused by correlation, saying “I don’t know” is OK, giving up is sometimes the answer, and thinking like a kid is more beneficial than you think. The authors of Think Like a Freak try to present problems in a way that spin them on their head and force the reader to change their thinking and perspective. Saying “I don’t know” is HARD for most people. It admits defeat in some sort of way and most people don’t want to be wrong or defeated, naturally. But, the authors offer a new way of thinking. Saying “I don’t know” is not defeat, it is the beginning, the jumping off point for new discovery. It also, as the authors say, offers “the power of a good, randomized experiment.” Not knowing is not defeat! As a teacher, the chapter called “What’s Your Problem?” spoke the most to me. It speaks a great deal toward the education problems in the US. Teachers are under enormous strain from almost every angle possible, and Think Like a Freak offers a new perspective for tackling some of those problems. This book is changing my view of what it calls “noisy problems” and making me realize that there are new ways to experiment with learning. Students who come with baggage can be helped if we look at the problem a little differently. We all have barriers that we face out there, it is up to all of us change our perspective.

Talks about making failures survivable and how learning what *doesn't* work is just as important as learning what does work; 3. Various books by Nassim Nicholas Taleb. This book talks about the limits of what *can* actually be known.Q: Do I recommend this book? A: Yes. Even for the full price (Kindle). And even for people who know most of all this information, it's good seeing the authors update said information with new and interesting examples and good prose.

It’s not bad. It gives you a bit of background but it’s mostly just the questions and answers. Pretty common with these type of test help books. There are mistakes I’ve found. I didn’t note them as I went through. Most glaring though, question T8B12 answer in the book is not correct according to other sources, so if read only this book and this question gets asked, you’ll get t wrong. :)

It seems more informative than the other study guide I'm using.

Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings' farmhouse is definitely on the list as are some of the other places chronicled in this book.The photographers, Steve Gross and Susan Daley, who also produced and photographed OLD HOUSES, SANTA FE: HOUSES & GARDENS, and CATSKILLS COUNTRY STYLE, as well as their recent release, CREOLE HOUSES, appreciate and photograph these unusual places that should be both seen and preserved. Their work provides an armchair glimpse into another time--each place is preserved and kept in its own unique manner and fortunately brought to life, and held for posterity, in the evocative vision of these photographers. We all need to see the built environment a bit more as they do and appreciate what we still have from the past before it is beseiged by homogenous strip malls and McMansions. I love this book! It is a beautiful tour of OLD FLORIDA"S lost treasures of architecture and all the facinating houses and gardens that most tourists never go to. In this age of over development and franchise attractions this beautifully photographed book showed us many wonderous places that make Florida unique. When I found this book I was amazed and looked up the authors, Sue Daley and Steve Gross. It turns out that they have done several books of this sort. They also did a book on Sante Fe and another one on the Catskills and both are as beautiful and interesting as OLD FLORIDA. They are both photographers who seem to be able to find both historic and contemporary houses to photograph that one would love to visit. This is what makes their books so good, their sophisticated eye for showing a place through it's houses and people who created them and we can't wait to see where their books will take us next.

Who knew? Browsing the bookstore shelves for a present for a dear friend recently retired to the Sunshine State I came upon this fine book, OLD FLORIDA. This book is a gem! The excellent photographs show all the great gardens and historic houses like the ones in St Agustine we love to visit and many we plan to. I will be ordering several more to give as gifts.

About the Author

Don Freeman was born in San Diego, California, in 1908. At an early age, he received a trumpet as a gift from his father. He practiced obsessively and eventually joined a California dance band. After graduating from high school, he ventured to New York City to study art under the tutelage of Joan Sloan and Harry Wickey at the Art Students' League. He managed to support himself throughout his schooling by playing his trumpet evenings, in nightclubs and at weddings.Gradually, he eased into making a living sketching impressions of Broadway shows for The New York Times and The Herald Tribune. This shift was helped along, in no small part, by a rather heartbreaking incident: he lost his trumpet. One evening, he was so engrossed in sketching people on the subway, he simply forgot it was sitting on the seat beside him. This new career turned out to be a near-perfect fit for Don, though, as he had always loved the theater.He was introduced to the world of children’s literature when William Saroyan asked him to illustrate several books. Soon after, he began to write and illustrate his own books, a career he settled into comfortably and happily. This, along with a rainbow projector Happy Firefly Night Light Projector Bedside Lamp 5 LED Bulbs 2 Modes Auto shut-off, Relaxing Rainbow fulfilled my 3yo's request of "a rainbow" for Christmas. This book was the perfect little story. My only caveat is that I wish the illustration showed the rainbow in the correct ROYGBIV order. Even my kindergartner (big brother) noticed the color order is wrong. LOL. Again, very sweet book, still happy we purchased.

I got this book as a gift for a toddler to go along with the Grimms Rainbow Blocks http://www.amazon.com/Grimms-6-Piece-Rainbow-Nesting-Elements/dp/B004R3TM9Q. I love pairing a toy along with a book to give as a gift to encourage the little ones to read and inspire their imagination as they play with the toy. This cute little book would pair well with anything rainbow related like a prism, rainbow maker, or the blocks I bought.

I like this book, but I guess I was hoping for more. The boy runs out to catch a rainbow and can't... so on the way home imagines what it would be like to play with a rainbow. Then when he gets home, there is a rainbow on his wall made by the fishbowl. I think the imaginary portion of the book could set up unrealistic expectations with children depending on their personalities and maturity levels.So far, this is one of the few books I have found to use for St. Patrick's Day that I actually like. I like to teach about rainbows around St. Patrick's Day because Irish tales say the leprechauns hid their gold there. This book reveals you cannot ever reach the end of the rainbow and thus sheds some light on the Irish leprechaun stories (and Irish humor).Overall, i wish the book spent more time on making a rainbow of our own using a prism rather than the pretending to play with a rainbow. I think playing with a rainbow you make could be even more fun than the imagination, but then again I teach science for a living ;-)

This is a beautifully illustrated book with a very fun, whimsical story line. I was instantly reminded of the charming and lovable Corduroy and my 5 year old niece was engaged in the story. I am so happy to have found this little treasure - I only wish I'd found it sooner, when my kiddos were still young. (Though as an adult, I'm pretty sure I love it just as much as my little niece.)

My daughter adores this book. It's so cute! About a child who is trying to find a rainbow, because every child wants to play with a rainbow. The illustrations are beautiful. Such a great picture book!

Rainbows are my favorite so I purchased this book to read to my great niece. The colors of the rainbow are beautiful and the story is fun! The color are just the right size to help teach her her colors.

First of all, I am not a Forex Trader and I am certainly not a Day Trader. I am a swing trader who uses stocks, options and leveraged ETFs for trading on a time scale of a few days to a month of holding period. However, I was certain that I could benefit from a guidance on the subject of volume profile.I was not disappointed. The author does an admirable job of educating about the importance of volume as the third dimension of a technical analysis, the price and time being the other two. His explanation of the market movers' footprint to be found in the volume bars is lucid and coherent. I had no difficulty buying his arguments trace the movement of the market makers from their volume footprint. Applying his observations on trade setups was a logical conclusion and I set about examining dozens of charts of equities prospectively to see the results. They work with proper precautions taken as described by him.It is rare to see advocates of this theory or that one admit to their failed trades. This author does it and makes good points to emphasize that nothing works 100% of the time in the markets.I will be re-reading this e-book again in a few weeks and may have a few notes to add at that time.This one of the best educational nugget I have found in a vast ocean of misinformation, idealistic and hopeful prattle about investing advice.It is a bargain at this price and could help you make better decisions in your trading experience.My many many thanks to the author for such a lucidly written short book about such an important subject.

I've always wanted to learn more about how volume and volume profile work but cannot say ''this book helped me at all! I was skeptical when I ordered the book but am more so now especially when the author says he uses a system where his stop is bigger than his target! My hunch is I could have learned more by simply using google search

Finally someone that teaches and shows how to use a volume Profile in an easy to follow with practical examples. Someone that actually follows their own teachings. Reducing risk and maximizing targets. Trading with institutional big money players is the way to go. Like Will Rogers said. “Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there." - Will Rogers

After 13 years of trading, I can say this is the most detailed/useful book I've read on trading. For 2 cups of coffee at Starbucks, you can get access to everything you need to start trading profitably.

As someone new to trading, sifting through the mass amounts of information out there can be daunting and time consuming. Trader Dale offers a solid strategy( with helpful examples) as well as some great tips to help you get organized and trade ready.
