Hands down Dan Abnett is the best authort the Black Library has. His knowledge of the universe and inventive prose usually make for an entertaining read. However, this piece was just plain boring. It reads like a history book, which is what it is intended to be, however, for fans of the 40k universe, it lacks a couple important things: character, action (there's plenty of action, but all described from a rather academic and bird's eye view, and of course, the 40k flavor. The juxtaposition of a hi-tech yet brutally superstitious culture is what interests the reader. for example, the Sabbot World's crusade doesn't seem to mention Gaunt's Ghosts at all. Well, come on! His overview of the Sabbat World's Crusade was... just... dry.The hardcore fan will love it. It's a beautiful book. But lacks a certain spark.

Tactica Imperium: A History of the Later Imperial Crusades is a great addition to the growing and very detailed backstory and history of the Imperium of Mankind. For those who already have played and followed the growing mythology of Games Workshop's Warhammer40K will enjoy this additional source of background information. Those who have been reading the Gaunt books from the Black Library division of Games Workshop will also recognize the principal author of Tactica Imperium. Dan Abnett lends his excellent writing skills and deep knowledge of the Warhammer40k universe to this source book.One of the battle's even describes a Crusade which Abnett has been writing about for years: The Sabbat Worlds Crusade. The Battle for Lyubov gives the readers a new vantage point on this long-standing Crusade which has been pretty much seen through the eyes of Gaunt and his Tanith First-and-Only Imperial Guard regiment. I like the fact that even without falling back to mentioning the Tanith in this battle, Abnett still makes it exciting and vivid to read. There's been talk that Abnett will be ending the adventures of Gaunt and the Tanith. If he does then I hope he writes more stories about the Sabbat Worlds Crusade but through other point of views.There's a total of four pivotal battles describes and detailed in Tactica Imperium. Abnett does a great job in writing out all four. I especially like the insight he gives to the different mindset the Adeptus Astartes has towards defending the Imperium. Some who read this particular battle for Naxos might find the Space Marines of the Iron Snakes Chapter cold, calculating and emotionless, but in the end it does show that they look at the broader scope of how to defend the Imperium. Even if it means sacrificing the very people they've been tasked to protect.Tactica Imperium: A history of the Later Imperial Crusades is a wonderfully written source book which should satisfy any fan of Warhammer40K. It's vivid, detailed and at times thrilling like a full-blown action novel. Dan Abnett continues to cement his status as the Black Library's premiere house author and here's to hoping he continues to write any future Tactica Imperium books.

The artwork in this book is very good. Fans of Warhammer 40K and Battlefleet Gothic (both are science fiction miniature games from Games Workshop) will find this book an excellent reference guide for any campaigns they wish to create as there are maps provided of key locations. The description of the four battles that occur provides the background material to help any game player design a strategic battlefield that extends beyond one company or battalion, but across planets and solar systems.Readers of the Warhammer 40K series will recognize some of the locations from other stories. Overall a light read, took a couple of hours. Solid product and fans will enjoy it as a reference book.

Jennifer writes in an easy to read, faith-filled, raw, authentic way and she sprinkles it with laugh out loud humor. I felt like I was sitting across from her as we shared a cup of coffee together.Jennifer Dukes Lee shares how control had become a coping mechanism to numb herself from the pain of life. She discusses the unhealthy affects control has upon us and how it can break us down, piece by piece. There’s a cost to control. This quote by Jennifer summed it all up for me. “I can’t begin to tell you how I willingly withstand the pressure of believing I have to be “in control,” reliable, on top of all things—and how often that self-pressure completely breaks me. I’ve learned to hide the fractured debris of my overworked life.” This resonated with me on so many levels!I couldn’t put the book down! Jennifer Dukes Lee gently guides the reader through her Crack the Control Code plan and accepting the invitation from Jesus to live our lives in a new way. The Manga Guide to Molecular Biology is basically designed to get your feet wet with Biology, by pulling you in with a slightly amusing manga. The problem is that it's Biology. Every single chapter, nay, every couple of pages you are bombarded with dozens of new terms. The manga part basically breaks down every so often, where they are forced to give up drawing the panels, and begin lecturing you in Biology. As far as the product goes, it's alright. They have some pretty good analogies to help understand some of the topics, and the Manga part makes studying Biology a little bit more appealing. Unfortunately, as Biology is a complicated subject, you only learn some of the real basics, and the manga half is kind of crummy. You'll need at least another biology book (or two) to supplement this.Perhaps buy this if someone you know needs some motivation to start studying Biology. Or you're bored.

We homeschool, and my advanced 7th grader loves this. The concepts are fairly basic for molecular biology, but as an introduction to the subject and a way to make it more engaging, this book does a very good job. We're likely to purchase more of the manga guides series based on our experience with this one.

Molecular guide for Dummies. Makes a very difficult topic a little manageable. I found myself going back over the same pages several times. Required memorization of definitions to keep things straight. I pick it up when I want to be humbled..

As a bio student most of the material covered is pretty basic. For anyone who would like to learn in a fun way, I highly recommend. Cool drawings and easy to understand style compared to many other manga books.

These education books are very nice and are easy to relate with the information in these books. These are great.

one of the best books. I even visited the island this past week where it all took place. That made it all come to life. I just wish I had been able to meet the author. I did meet one of his former students that was attending the school while he was there. She was at the restaurant where our boat docked on the island.

I have read most of Pat's books, except this first one. I felt "The Water is Wide" was amazing, truly a great first 'virgin" book written by a young man who had no idea how far his influence would travel. Pat showed his great talent early on with his descriptive way of sharing his experiences, his views on life and the people who crossed his path. His impact on the children of Yamacraw Island was immense. To work with children whose circumstances were so grim proved to be quite a shock, language skills were absent, reading non-existent, with some having not even the most rudimentary speaking skills. Pat took it upon himself to find unconventional teaching methods to reach them was not welcome from the "system" in place there. Being so isolated prevented them from learning even the most basic and elementary standards, and Pat creatively developed ways to gain their attention and interest, and provided them with experiences that they would never forget. The perseverance Pat showed in hanging in there, despite working against all odds, i.e., the "administration", the transportation to the island by boat which in itself, was a great challenge, and the conditions there that were horrendous, was life-changing not only for the "students" but for the people of Yamacraw Island. I felt this book proved that Pat Conroy was always born to be a writer, born to change lives, and open doors to the beauty of life that can be found even in a place like Yamacraw Island.

As a former teacher in a very poor county in North Carolina just a few years after Conroy's experience, I related to this book in the first few pages. I am a lover of "all things Pat Conroy", and this one did not disappoint. His writing is beautifully poignant, sometimes invoking laughter, sometimes tears, but always sincere and believable. The challenges he faced defy reason in more ways than one, but his undaunted spirit prevailed. If you are a teacher, and think you've had a bad day/year, put this on your reading list. How would you have faced this challenge? I'd hope with the same tenacity in the face of circumstances as well as the school administration. The love he had for his challenged students shines through and your admiration for him will jump up several notches by the time you finish this touching story.

I grew up in a very small town in Missouri during part of my childhood. That little patch of land had one cotton gin, cotton fields that surrounded everything with dirt roads and ditches alongside them. Having moved from near Pittsburgh to be there, I was, in the estimation of my teachers, advanced in my learning and skills. This was sixth grade, mind you, so I had about as much intelligence as most of the kids in my previous school.Living there, I got a good picture of what it was like associating with children that weren't as academically challenged as I had been. In fact, it was at first very complimentary to hear I was an excellent pupil, but after a time, I really wanted less attention, to fit in with my friends, who were mostly boys that thought the greatest achievement was the number of swats given by the gym coach they accumulated over the course of the semester.What life was like outside of class was hard work in my grandfather's scrap yard, hunting, and learning the skills needed to excel as a country boy: how to hone my knife, how to tell what kind of metal I was holding in my hand -- I always carried a magnet -- how to clean a shotgun and make fishing sinkers from molds into which we poured molten lead. So, why was there any need for anymore education than to learn to add, subtract and read reasonably well?That's how I view Yamacraw. Just what was it those children needed to survive in the environment they were accustomed? Not much. To advance, they had to have experiences and knowledge that created other thoughts, experiences and dreams. And that is exactly what Pat Conroy took to their island, the map to a new life full of more insight than they could have ever thought possible. Plus, he did it in the most extraordinary ways with field trips, slides and movies that were never before used, just stashed away in a seldom opened closet. Seeing those tools, Mr. Conrack knew just what to do. With whatever he had, he made use of it, and always, in his most amazing speeches turned experiences into learning. The open ended questions in the back of the chapters are pretty much useless. They play the word change game where they change the key word so you can't search for easier and as a result I had incredible difficulty finding the answers to the questions. Also as per amazons statement text to speech is available on all books that the publisher enables it on. This is a feature that helps me greatly to learn. I also can't use it because of the publishers greed and laziness.

This series put out by this company is by far one of the highest quality books I've read. The information is shown in a way that conducive for learning and does stretch itself out. I've gotten to the point that if entire paragraphs and pages are meaningless expenses of words meant to spread out on paragraph's worth of information in a long stream of ramblings, I put the book down and look for something else. I use this as a student for a class, but I find myself reading ahead of the class and looking into other books in this series. Hope they keep the high quality writing and instruction for years to come.

I am taking a graduate course at UMBC in Cybersecurity and this is the first book that I would recommend as a good overall explanation of the field of Incident Response and Disaster Recovery. In a lot of cyber scenarios today, recognition and reaction to an incident is one of the most key aspects in ensuring business continuity. This book covers many of those aspects and will certainly be a text I keep with me through much of my career.

Had to get this book for Uni.Very in depth on IR and DR objectives. Followed my teachers syllabus to letter as well. As far as entertainment value about negative 5 stars but for education it is spot on. I rented the book from Amazon which was a plus as well cause I saved money and hassle trying to return it.

Filled the need for this semester. Will be selling it back after the semester is over.

Seems well written, was pretty beaten up when i got it. Rentals from amazon have saved me a ton.

It provided some valuable insite to incident response and contengiency planning which I would be willing to bet a vast majority of organizations are unprepared and do not have one in place. I use to take my bible but I really couldn't mark the pages like I needed, with this little "journal" I have a spot on each day/section to write down the scripture (our pastor preaches solely from the bible), along with notes and it has a section to write down what you will work/concentrate on during the upcoming week!! I have the scripture that was quoted so I can go back during the week and go over what the pastor preached about.

Beautifully bound with a lot of writing space. Colors are bright and cheery. Purchased for a birthday gift for my sister. When she opened it she was very pleased. Useful for study and room for private thoughts. Would buy again.

About the Author

Alan R. Sims is a nationally recognized expert on mortgage fraud and real estate related issues. In January, 2011 he assisted a homeowner in proving fraud against a titan bank on a very tight budget. It was the first victory of its kind since the housing crisis began. While not an attorney, he is consulted by attorneys nationwide as an expert witness to build cases against banks, mortgage firms, and mortgage scam operations. He teaches attorneys and judges in California State Bar approved continuing education courses on real estate matters. In 2009 he formed The Center for Litigation and Consumer Real Estate Education , a national nonprofit, to empower homeowners to fight back against their banks and mortgage companies. Recently, the name has been changed to Courtroom Advocates. Having a passion for helping "the little guy," Sims has spent the past 20 years collaborating on varying sizes of real estate legal battles. This is a straight-talking practical guide to getting a little dough through small claims court. The book is well-written, explanatory, and through. Read it before you miss that first house payment if you can, before you respond to the foreclosure papers, before you walk into court or even after you've been to court and lost. You still will gain some perspective on your situation if nothing else. I wish I would have read it much sooner but it was still very helpful. Thank you Alan Sims. The general public would have been better off following the essence of this book rather than the government holding up these stupid modifications that, if you could get one, only made the banks more money and cost the homeowners valuable time they could have better spent revamping their lives.

This is one of the best books I've read, written in laymens language and easy to understand. Writing to Mr. Sims via his website I was surprised to get a personal response from a very caring man that understands what the banks are doing to people. Keep up the great work! I highly recomment his book and website!

Alan Sims helped me sue Bank of America in small claims court. They were so threatened of his knowledge they sent a V.P. from San Francisco down to Riverside, CA who wanted him removed from my case. I bought this book as I have a friend who needs to sue Wells Fargo. The book explains options if you don't have money to fight them and depending on the state you live in you have 6 years to file your case. Small claims court judges can order the bank to work with you in mediation. This book tells you all you need to know to represent yourself confidently. The book explains legal terms and theories in lay terms for everyone to understand.
